2018 Styling Trends

We love styling at McDonald Jones Homes and as autumn and winter are approaching quickly, now is the time to assess your home styling colour themes and consider some of our tips for styling your home...

One of the key new colour trends at the moment is metallic, think brass and silver… These metallics are a great addition to home styling and can add depth and warmth with an autumn feel to any room, plus tick the 'new colour trend' box too. You can easily add these elements to your home with accessories, the easiest being candle holders, mirrors, and even lighting will hit the mark. We have highlighted our favourite inspirations on our Pinterest profile.

Pink is also still on trend. Think of adding it with shades of grey, corals or nudes to give it a fresh look and use it with textures like soft lux velvet to add another dimension. Use accessories to add this splash of colour and really make them pop with neutral background like our Taubmans' favourites White Illusion or Elusive White (used in our newest display home at Huntlee - the Bexley). Another trend to keep a lookout for is organic material: think stone, dark timber, crochet and macramé. These accessories can become key features and can help balance and ground us in hectic times. They also have a natural warmth that is perfect for the autumn months. Features such as macramé as large wall hangings or even carry luscious greenery for hanging plants throughout the home help tie this look together.
