Legends raise money for Bushfire Disaster Victims
On 16th November a crowd of more than 7,000 NRL fans turned out to watch some of Rugby Leagues biggest names battle it out at the Legends of League tournament, held for the first time at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Thanks to support from the NSW Government, NRL, Mark Hughes Foundation and McDonald Jones Homes; this year’s Legends of League event became a bushfire fundraiser to support the victims of the recent bushfires across the country.
It was a great day, with more than 90 former NRL players lacing up their boots, in the spirit of yesteryear rivalry, exciting the crowd with the day being filled with legendary footy and great laughs and most importantly raising a more than $30,460 for the Salvation Army Bushfire Disaster Appeal.
The funds came from donated stadium hire fees thanks to Venues NSW and spectator donations with McDonald Jones Homes matching all money raised dollar-for-dollar.
A huge congratulations to the 2019 Champions - Parramatta Eels, led by Nathan Hindmarsh, who were the clear stand out all day and were ecstatic to beat the reigning champions, the Canterbury Bulldogs, in the final to come away with their first Legends of League trophy.
