As cliché as it may sound, no two days are the same. Working for one of Australia’s biggest builders means there is always new things happening such as new promotions, new display homes, new land releases, new clients. This makes coming to work very easy.

I have been working in the building industry for 10 years; working for a smaller custom Builder for 5 years, and with McDonald Jones since 2019.

Prior to working in the building industry, I worked for a consulting group and part of a team who managed DFAT’s Overseas Property Portfolio. When I finished at University I worked in the House of Representatives at Parliament House in Canberra; definitely a highlight of my professional career and 2 years I will always look back on fondly.
 

I like to sit back and hear their story, understand what it is they need from me, and what is it that brought them into the display home in the first instance. After that we can start talking about designs, land, prices, etc.
 

Having been in the industry for some time now, one of my strong points and where I feel I am an expert would be ‘the market’; house prices, land prices, what sold where, who is selling what, future land releases etc.

Having a close relationship with a lot of Real Estate agents and developers puts me in a good position to have the information in the back of my mind when talking to clients.

Without question, my biggest accomplishment is my 2 kids (aged 8 and 5) – watching them grow, learn, make friends, go to school and have fun is my career highlight!

In terms of working accomplishment, purchasing a display home from McDonald Jones is right up there and something I am proud of.
